Prevention and Awareness Raising Working Group

The Awareness Raising working group is chaired by Missing Children Europe and has members drawn from a number of NGOs, law enforcement and industry. Their main aim is to raise awareness of the issues currently being looked at by the EFC, by disseminating documentation produced by the other working groups and advising on ways to raise awareness of this issue across Europe.

Terms of Reference

Aims

  1. A general templates as well as broader communications guidelines for the EFC
  2. Information material on the problem and the solutions brought by the EFC in various languages;
    • Based on input generated from other groups
    • Dissemination to occur through wider group of stakeholders
  3. Collecting/ best practice examples of and addressing issues arising from merchant acquisition policies.
    • Promoting the existing best practice guides
    • Development of a template for the collecting of other existing best practices
    • Disseminating of best practices collected in other WGs
  4. Developing a broader prevention materials related to commercial online child abuse

 

Scope

The Prevention and Awareness Raising Working Group will work with the other working groups to reach out across sectors to raise awareness of the issue, as well as to collect best practice, allowing for robust prevention strategies to be put in place.

Methodology

Intelligence will be sought from all relevant contacts determined by the working group and from open source research. The data collected will be subjected to robust analysis in order to produce a quality intelligence product.
