There are some great things you can see on the internet, but sometimes people with bad intentions can post pictures and things to read which might upset you. This material be racist, violent, pornographic or abusive.

If someone online says something inappropriate or behaves in a way which upsets you or makes you feel uncomfortable, it is important for you to tell an adult you trust or report directly to us at the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre.

Either way it is vital that you stop the chat with them immediately. Leave the chat room or social networking site you are using for a while or if for some reason this person is on your own personal contacts list then block them. You can do this by right clicking on their user name and clicking "Block Contact" and delete them from your contacts. Remember if you do block them then they wont know - on their account it will just look like you are offline and you wont get any messages they send you.
